WHY SEMENUK CHOSE LSPR OVER RED BULL RAMPAGE

Brandon Semenuk is arguably the best freeride mountain biker in the world. He has won the Red Bull Rampage four times, more than any other rider. However, in 2023, Semenuk chose to compete in the Lake Superior Performance Rally (LSPR) instead of Rampage.

There are a few reasons why Semenuk may have chosen LSPR over Rampage.

  • New challenge: Semenuk has won Rampage four times, and he may have been looking for a new challenge. LSPR is a rally race, which is a very different discipline from freeride mountain biking.
  • Less pressure: Rampage is one of the biggest and most prestigious freeride mountain biking events in the world. There is a lot of pressure on riders to perform well. LSPR is a smaller event, so there may have been less pressure on Semenuk.
  • More fun: Semenuk has said that he enjoys the challenge and excitement of rallying. He may have simply wanted to have some fun competing in a new discipline.

In an interview with DirtFish, Semenuk said that he was excited about the challenge of LSPR. He said that he had always wanted to compete in a rally race, and he was looking forward to learning from the other drivers.

Semenuk finished second in LSPR, which was a very impressive result for his first rally race. He has said that he would like to compete in more rally races in the future.

Semenuk's decision to compete in LSPR over Rampage was a surprise to many people. However, it is clear that he was looking for a new challenge and a different kind of experience. Semenuk's decision is a reminder that he is one of the most versatile and talented athletes in the world.
